Tommy Howarth scores United's first goal of the new season, heading home a cross from Moore. Vale equalise when Hayes' shot comes back off the post and Pearson knocks in the rebound. Walton scores a superb second to win the game and Leeds go close to extending the lead through Wood, Howarth and Armitage who all force Smith into making saves.

Leeds make it two wins from three thanks to Tommy Howarth's early goal which came from a header following a corner. Vale push hard for an equaliser but Leeds defend superbly. The home side are reduced to ten men when Peter Pursell leaves the field injured after 80 minutes.

The Leeds United Supporters Club make this fixture their annual trip and 438 fans cross the pennines. Blackpool take a deserved lead when Barrass scores from close range but the in form Tommy Howarth levels a minute into the second half. Basil Wood and George Mason both score in the last ten minutes to give Leeds the points which takes them to the top of the league.

Leeds' unbeaten start comes to an end in London despite going in front after just five minutes when Tommy Howarth puts away a penalty following handball by Nicholson. Rennox equalises but Moore restores Leeds' advantage. The home side score three times inside a quarter of a hour to take the points and gain revenge for defeat at Elland Road.

Missing the influential Tommy Howarth, Leeds are well beaten in the Potteries. After an uneventful first half, Stoke take the lead when Whalley allows Tommy Broad's free kick to slip through his hands. Ten minutes later, another error by the visiting 'keeper results in Whitehurst adding the second and Jimmy Broad rounds off a bad afternoon for United.

Hull inflict a second home defeat in three games on Leeds thanks to two first half goals from Mills. Swan's abscence weakens the Leeds attack and despite seeing plenty of the ball, they never look like scoring.

Fred Whalley is missing with a cold so Billy Down makes his first appearance of the season but is helpless to prevent a heavy defeat. Henshall opens the scoring with Leeds appealing for offside and Cashmore makes it two when well placed to score as the ball comes back off the post. Baker and Frew combine to foul Cashmore and Marriott makes it three from the spot. Howarth heads a consoltaion for Leeds but Cashmore has the final say with a header of his own just a minute later.
