Leeds' season gets off to the worst possible start at Highbury. After a goalless first half, Arsenal, giving a debut to Alec James, run riot. Jack opens the scoring after a defensive mix up and Hulme makes it two within a couple of minutes. Parker adds a third from the spot after handball by Roberts on the line and Jack scores the fourth from 30 yards, a shot that Potts should have dealt with.

Potts is ruled out after being diagnosed with scarlett fever and Johnson deputises as Villa dominate early on and take the lead through Beresford. Roberts levels from the spot and Longden beats Olney to make it 2-1. Another penalty sees Roberts grab his second before Jennings completes a comprehensive victory with a goal on the hour.

Turnbull earns Leeds a point at Goodison Park after they fall behind to a Dixie Dean strike. Martin hits the post for Everton early on and Menzies comes close to putting the ball into his own net. Wainscoat misses an open goal before Turnbull's equaliser which the referee consults his linesman before allowing the goal to stand, a decision that infuriates the home crowd.

Huddersfield win the Yorkshire derby thanks to Davies who shoulder barges Johnson into the net for the games only goal. White hits the bar for Leeds in the opening exchanges and Town's Dixon sees a goal ruled out.

Dixie Dean's header gives the visitors the lead but Leeds recover to take the points. Wainscoat levels when he heads home a Willis Edwards cross and Tom Jennings wins it with a fierce right foot shot.
