A scrappy, dull affair ends 0-0. Leeds are missing the suspended Kenny Burns and Neil Firm is brought in to combat the aerial threat of Thompson and Hateley. The visitors are denied after half an hour when a linesman flag rules out an effort by Bodak and Lukic denies Gillespie with a great save from an overhead kick. Leeds don't threaten until the closing stages when Brian Flynn misses after being put clean through and Kevin Hird's effort is disallowed for offside.
