Leeds and Liverpool share four goals in a game of real quality at Elland Road. Gary McAllister scores a stunning right foot volley with only seven minutes on the clock only for Ronnie Whelan to curl home a beauty with half time beckoning. Jon Newsome brings down Mark Walters and Jan Molby makes no mistake from the spot but Leeds earn a deserved point when Lee Chapman scores after Chris Whyte flicks on a Gordon Strachan corner.

Youngster Rob Bowman is a surprise inclusion in the matchday squad as Leeds lose at Wimbledon. The Dons score the only goal of a dour game just after the hour when following a corner, the ball drops to the feet of Dean Holdsworth and the striker makes no mistake. Gary Speed almost snatches a point in injury time but it's another defeat on the road.
