Leeds win the game with a late Tony Yeboah strike but have Gary Speed to thank for an acrobatic clearance to deny Mark Hughes and John Lukic whose brilliant save denies Criag Burley. Yeboah hits the post three minutes before his late winner which comes when Dimitri Kharine, under pressure from Brian Deane, fails to hold a cross.

Two out of form teams meet at Stamford Bridge and Mark Hughes bags a hat-trick as Leeds' dismal form continues. Chelsea are 3-0 up at half time and Hughes gets his third from the spot after Gery Kelly's foul on John Spencer. Gary McAllister grabs a consolation midway through the second half.
